Sunday, August 11: Last year, Martin and Tamika Dunkley threw a party, expecting a few hundred people to show up and enjoy some good food and music. Thousands arrived. This Sunday, the Dunkleys invite the greater community to come get a sense of what island culture is all about.

Both Chef Linda Soper-Kolton and Chef Sara Boan graduated from the Natural Gourmet Institute in Manhattan before landing their dream jobs at the Catskill Animal Sanctuary, tucked away between Saugerties and Lake Katrine, where they teach the vegan way of compassionate cooking. Now the dynamic duo is making the rounds at bookstores and other venues to launch a cookbook, Compassionate Cuisine: 125 Plant-Based Recipes from Our Vegan Kitchen.
Sadie Penzato exhibition at Highland’s Knaus Gallery
The Knaus Gallery & Wine Bar will exhibit a number of Penzato’s paintings from July 13 through 27. Its hours of operation are Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3 to 9 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 10 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 9 p.m. The opening reception on Saturday, July 13 will be a fond farewell party.
Ralph Moseley exhibits for the first time in nearly 50 years
Saturday, June 22: The upcoming exhibit in the Art Gallery of Lockwood Architecture has been curated by Moseley’s longtime friend and champion, Barbara Redfield (an original trustee of Olana). She says, “His studio is a treasure-trove. I pestered him for 20 years to take his work out. After [being involved] in the Color Field movement in the late ’60s early ’70s, he felt that the people who were really worthy were not selling, and he said, ‘That’s it’ and just dropped out of the art world. But he’s painted every single day without any connections to anyone.”
