The Gardiner Library continues its community concert and open mic series this Saturday January 3 at 6 p.m. with Vickie Russell, a touring singer/songwriter based in New Paltz, who performs her original heartfelt songs on keyboard and guitar. With influences from Bach and Chopin to Carol King, Elton John and Sting, Russell will pull you into her world of love, laughter and hope. She has appeared as a main act, as well as opening for artists such as the 10,000 Maniacs, Donovan, Leon Russell, Richie Havens and Lesley Gore among others.
Each concert in the open mic series begins with a pot luck dinner at 6 p.m., followed by an open mic at 6:45 p.m. The second act is the featured performer. Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish, an appetite and harmonies. For more information or a featured performer submission, please e-mail [email protected].
The event takes place in the library community room, 133 Farmer’s Turnpike. For further information, call 255-1255 or visit www.gardinerlibrary.org.
