Saugerties grandmother wins the lottery

A retired Ulster County grandmother is beating the heat with a cool $1,000,000 win on the New York Lottery’s Sterling Silver scratch-off game. The long-time Saugerties resident plans to share her prize with her children, grandchildren, and mother.

Lottery officials did not reveal the name of the winner, though a presentation will be held Thursday, July 21 at 10:30 a.m. at Speedy Mart on Main Street, where the winning ticket was purchased.

I wish that this lucky winner will pay it forward by donating something to the Animal Emergency Fund run by Marie Post. This fund helps animals in danger from accidents or illness whose owners don’t have the money to pay the vet with. It helps needless suffering when the Emergency Fund can take care of the bill or part of the bill and this is a good thing. Please lucky winner, can you donate to our beloved pets who have no voice of their own and no way of paying their own bills? They bring so much joy to all of us.
