The Sussin Family of 123 Patch Road in Saugerties once again invites the public to view its annual Christmas light show, which can be seen every night from Nov. 24 to Jan. 1, 5-10 p.m., weather permitting. Santa and Mrs. Claus can be seen Fridays and Saturdays from 5-8 p.m. The light show, now in its fifth year, is free to attend.
Many choose to view the show from their cars, driving by slowly. Others park along the street and view it on foot. The family asks the latter group to park up the road from the display in order to keep traffic moving.
Word has gotten out about the light show. This year, the family was shadowed by a film crew from the reality television program “The Great Christmas Light Fight” on ABC, which pits several families against one another, judging them on three categories: use of lights, overall design, and Christmas spirit. An unveiling of the display was held in September, which required a mass gathering permit.
The Sussin family’s segment will appear on Monday, Dec. 11 at 9 p.m., according to a post on the event’s Facebook page, which reads:
We are so excited to finally announce the great news that we’ve been keeping a secret for so long. A lot of people were asking why we were setting up so early this year. Well, earlier this year, we were contacted by ABC’s “The Great Light Fight” and told we should apply to be on this season. Well, we did and we got a call in August saying we were picked to be on the show! We were so excited and so nervous at the same time. The display grew more than double from last year and we basically started from scratch. We were able to put up the display in 41 days, just in time for filming. Normally it would take us months! It was such a great experience for our whole family and can’t wait for everyone to see us on TV! Be sure to tune into ABC on Monday December 11th at 8 pm. Our familys segment will broadcast on the second half of the night from 9 to 10pm. Make sure to watch the Sussin Family compete and see if we have what it takes to bring home that trophy!!! Watch the promo video below and see if you recognize any parts of it

Always a lovely time. Thanks to the Sussin Family once again for putting this on free of charge!
WOW- way to go!
Please proof read your articles before posting!! It’s VERY distracting to see so many typos from sources that are supposed to be grammatically correct and all spelling correct or at least with words that are completed.
We just watched the episode with the Sussin’s families light display and I have to say we were so disappointed that they did not win the trophy that they should have won, HANDS DOWN!! It was the most creative and beautiful Christmas light and decoration display we had ever seen in our lives, I almost cried when I saw it. So amazing! I have to say that the show seems slightly slanted on “causes” for the spirit. What’s wrong with just loving Christmas????
We live in California and when seeing their hard efforts, I wanted to fly out to NY and see it in person. Absolutely incredible and nothing has ever compared to theirs. My husband and I go all out for Halloween, we know the amount of effort and skill it takes to create something like that, so when they did not get the trophy I had to set out and let them know they were totally robbed. Well done Sussin family, especially father and son. One day we are coming out to see it in person for sure. Keep up the great work!
