A 51-year-old Accord man is dead following a crash this morning on Rt. 209 in the town of Hurley.
The crash was reported at 7:49 a.m. Investigation by Ulster County Sheriff’s deputies revealed the following: A 2005 Dodge Magnum operated by Gloria Davis, 65, of Kingston, was traveling northbound on Rt. 209. As the driver slowed to make a left hand turn onto Wynkoop Road, a State Corrections van, a 2018 Chevrolet Express, operated by corrections officer Simon Prindle, rear ended the Dodge Magnum. The motorcycle, a 2007 Yamaha, operated by Timothy Bruck, 51, of Accord, was traveling northbound behind the corrections van when it lost control in an effort to avoid collision and struck the rear of the van. Bruck was found unconscious and was pronounced dead at the scene.
An additional passenger, a correction officer, and two adult male inmates were also in the corrections van. The operators and passengers of the corrections van and the Dodge Magnum were all transported to Health Alliance – Broadway Campus with minor injuries.
The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the New York State Police, New York State Accident Construction Team, Fire Departements Hurley, Marbletown & Ulster Hose, Hurley Ambulance and Mobile Life Support Ambulance Service.
Oh no… is this the same man who was in the paper last year for providing donated deer meat to food pantries?

Yes it is Byron. He is survived by his lovely wife Susan and their two adult children Samantha and Timothy Jr. Very sad loss indeed.
The Daily Freedman stated, Sheriff’s Capt. Vincent Altieri said “No drugs, no texting, nobody doing anything silly,” he said. “Just a terrible accident.” Well what was corrections officer Simon Prindle doing before rear ending Gloria Davis? The front of the van shows no sign of moving out of the way. Straight on collision. Is this how we operate vehicles randomly crashing into other motorist and killing others. This is not acceptable. I hope further investigation will be done and action taken as needed. Was there a blind corner or hill? Morning sun what? Prayers to all the loved one’s involved.
