A New Paltz school bus collided with a minivan Monday morning on Route 9W in Ulster Park. The bus was free of students at the time, the driver having discharged them at Ulster BOCES shortly before the incident.
According to reports, the driver of the minivan was headed southbound and allowed the vehicle to drift over the center line at a curve. The minivan struck the bus on the driver’s side near the front, and sustained a considerable amount of damage; the driver’s injuries were not life-threatening and the only passenger did not appear harmed, but was sent for evaluation nonetheless. The bus driver was evaluated and released, and the bus itself appeared to have only minor damage.
