All seven Democratic congressional candidates vying for the 19th Congressional District nomination will meet for what may be last debate before the Primary at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 5 at Congregation Emanuel, 243 Albany Avenue in Kingston.

The candidates will meet questions in a debate format that organizers hope will go beyond the sound bites that have so far defined the campaign. Audience questions (gathered and vetted in advance) will dip into areas not covered in previous forums. Moderators will use follow-up queries to challenge stock answers.

The debate is sponsored by the Brotherhood of Congregation Emanuel. The event will be held in the social hall of the Congregation. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Don’t the organizers of these forums check to see what other meetings are taking place in the community? Traditionally, the common council meeting is the first Tuesday of the month which means any of the aldermen who announced their support to the congressional candidates will not be able to be in attendance because of their prior commitments. This is not the first time conflicts have occurred with these announced forums and town hall meetings. You can’t be in two places at same time.
