A relay from Manhattan to Lake Placid that began today will pass through the Mid-Hudson Valley tomorrow, stopping in three Ulster County locations for brief (30-minute) ceremonies with various local dignitaries.
- 8:30 a.m., center of Walkway Over the Hudson between Highland and Poughkeepsie.
- 10:30 a.m. Carmine Liberta Bridge viewing platform (over Wallkill River), Rt. 299, New Paltz.
- 12:30 p.m. Kingston City Hall, 420 Broadway, Kingston.
- 5 p.m. Kiwanis Ice Arena, Washington Ave., Saugerties.
Nearly 2,500 amateur athletes will be competing in 30 winter sports events throughout the Lake Placid region. The opening ceremony is Feb. 1 followed by three days of competition. More info: www.empirestatewintergames.com.
