You don’t see one of these every day.

A 130-foot, 8-million-pound heat recovery steam generator bound for a New Jersey power plant is making its way down the Hudson today. Photo and details on the cargo and how it was readied for shipment can be found in these articles by Hudson Valley 360 and the Times-Union.

Check back here for photos of the generator as it passes through our neck of the woods. Send yours to hudsonvalleyone[at]gmail.com.

You can track the progress by following one of the tugs, Mister Jim, on this map from vesselfinder.com.

As it approached the bridge, it was apparent how tight the clearance was. The Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge is a 151 feet tall, and the generator, 130 feet tall.
