Deputies and detectives from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the death of a Phoenicia man subsequent to an accident that occurred in West Hurley.
On February 6 at approximately 3:30 p.m., Deputies responded to a 911 call reporting an industrial accident on Stone Road in the Town of Hurley. Lewis E. Peck, 40, was operating a wood processing machine that cuts and splits firewood. A preliminary investigation indicates that he became entangled in the machine which resulted in a fatal injury.
Detectives were assisted at the scene by the West Hurley Fire Department and Mobile Life Support Services.
