A dutiful son
While I was flattered to learn that a person as busy as Mr. Heidcamp has found the time to concern himself with my family, his scrutiny seems to be somewhat superficial. My son Chris lives with me and serves as my caregiver, as I am almost 82 years old and suffer from debilitating osteoarthritis and numerous other health ailments which do not allow me to walk around without the aid of a walker and cane at all times. I have not driven a car in almost 30 years, and I have only left the house three times in the last nine months. I am reliant on my son Chris for everything from trips to the doctor’s office and the running of shopping errands to pick up my food, medications and other necessities for me. In addition, Chris takes care of everything else within my daily life for me. With the cost of nursing homes being $85,000-$135,00 per year, this is something that our family cannot afford, and Chris does not want me to have to endure the indignity of being in such an environment which would not allow me to consume the food that I would need in order to conform to the diet that I consume with my many food allergies. In 2008, when Chris’s father became ill with terminal kidney, prostate and bone cancer, Chris moved back to New York to care for his ailing father and help to take care of me. While he was taking care of us, he worked several part-time jobs, took a few political science classes at SUNY-New Paltz and assisted with several political campaigns. Chris puts a lot of time into serving as a county legislator, and he takes his job very seriously. I see all of the time and effort that he puts into attending extra meetings and assisting constituents with their problems.
Since I am aware of Mr. Heidcamp’s long-term relationship with Angie Minew, I can understand why Mr. Heidcamp would spring to her defense when he feels that she has been threatened. His loyalty to Ms. Minew is an admirable trait, but it has clearly clouded his vision. Chris bears no animosity towards Ms. Minew, as he simply views her as his opponent in the Nov. 3 election.

Minew will fight for residents
I write this letter in support of Mrs. Angie Minew in the upcoming District 2 county legislator’s election.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Mrs. Minew on the Board of Education and can tell you firsthand that she is an extremely diligent person, knowledgeable on every issue she addresses, and does not hesitate or back away from any issue.
Mrs. Minew is not afraid to challenge the system and will fight for all residents of Ulster County. Please show your support for Angie Minew on Election Day.

Minew’s accomplishments
I invite you to make a wise choice with me and support Angie Minew for Ulster County legislator. She is a busy lady who knows how to get things done. As an elected member of the Saugerties School Board she has accomplished many things including:
Voted yes on veterans tax exemption;
Voted to approve budgets under tax cap in Saugerties as well as Ulster boces last two years;
Supports the development of a youth hockey team and has voted yes to support the school band;
Went to Albany to speak against government implementation of our education system (Common Core);
Joined the school boards association and the legislative committee to eliminate the GEA., was successful in getting part of that funding back and the remainder this upcoming year, spoke in Albany and attended various meetings all over the county;
Support and push for drug education program;
Worked directly with assistant superintendent to revamp AIDS and sex ed curriculum;
Support and push Internet safety and informational sessions for the school and parents;
Changed the head lice policy;
Currently fighting to reestablish a police committee to address outdated policies and constant mandates.
Angie with her family chose to move to Saugerties several years ago and since then she has rolled up her sleeves and taken action to make our town a better place for her family and yours. She is a successful business person and cares greatly for children and sets an example for them as they grow up in our community to give back even at a young age.
I was a kid when my Dad got involved and served Saugerties as an Ulster County legislator for many years. Angie’s family supports her efforts to make Saugerties a better place. You will find her on the Conservative line Row C. Her opponent Mr. Allen is a one-term legislator who surreptitiously acquired the Republican line along with his true home Democrat and liberal. While Angie has been busy working to accomplish things in Saugerties, Mr. Allen only talks a good game — getting virtually nothing accomplished while in office.
