Concerning Santos Lopez
As many of you know, I am running for District 2 Ulster County Legislator. Going around meeting many of the residents and campaigning was actually an enjoyable and interesting time. It gave me a chance to meet the residents and bump into many old friends and acquaintances. Some share the same activities as my children, familiar faces from when I owned the paintball and gaming shop in Kingston. I ran into several who remembered me from the Early CellularOne where I worked as a corporate account executive. I bumped into fellow veterans. I truly enjoyed listening to the “Old Salts” talking about days gone by. Marine veterans found out I was a former Navy corpsman they began to call me “Doc” the nickname Marines call their medics, several residents who enjoyed reading my articles in the column “A piece of my mind.” One retired school teacher I met said she loved my article about common core and continued to tell me how she cut it out and saved the article. Thanks to those who took the time to chat with me. Why am I running? I want my children to have the same opportunities as I did growing up. The path this country is going is not the right direction. The growing divide between Americans, growing security threats our military, veterans and police targeted by extremists abroad and domestically and many of our politicians forgetting that they work for the people. For example our tyrannical governor passing laws like the NY (UN) Safe-Act and implementing Common Core just to make money, elected officials ordering a dump truck to be placed on the railroad tracks to intimidate the Catskill Mountain Railroad, down to abusing their connections to bully locals. I took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic, which never expires. I feel we must all get out of our comfort zones and get involved. I am not going to say anything negative about any of the candidates. I will brush of all the negative mudslinging and keep it clean, stick my guns and remember the office I am running for belongs to the people. As the only registered Republican running under the Republican Party I hope my fellow Republicans would vote for me.
I am going to end with a question. In this present place in history, with the growing divide, terrorist threats and our military being at the lowest levels since WWII, our economy not stable, government corruption at all levels and when our “allies don’t trust us” and “enemies don’t fear us” the possibility of “a worst-case scenario being a realistic threat” from a 9/11-style or worse, with Ulster County having several targets from military to the many fairs and festival — Who do you want as one of your elected officials? I feel a military veteran would be a good choice. And I truly feel. “These are the times that try men’s souls.” (Thomas Paine)

Concerning Angie Minew
I am writing to you in regards to Angie Minew. I have known Angie since the day she was born.
She is and always has been a go-getter, from an early age she became interested in doing the right thing. I am not a resident of Saugerties however I spend most of my time here as I am employed here.
Mrs. Minew has always searched to find justice in every area of concern.
She hears about an issue, studies the facts and looks for a solution. She enables others to have their opinion and voice their concerns to which she will then strive to make a change.
Even as a young girl she was the leader in the group, the lawyer if you would, taking everyone’s ideas and thoughts into consideration. She is fair and just and puts her heart and soul in all she does.
She genuinely cares for others needs and has always given 100 percent to anything she does.
She is remarkable when it comes to her business and runs a very smooth day-to-day operation there. The children are treated as her own and every need is met.
If you don’t know her you should because you are missing out.

On June 11, 2015, the Saugerties Conservative Party held a convention for the purpose of selecting candidates to run for County Legislature. At that meeting, Angie Minew was unanimously elected to be the Conservative candidate to run for County Legislator in District 2. No other candidates were nominated. Conservative petitions were circulated for Angie Minew and she will be the only name on the ballot for District 2.
Unfortunately two other individuals who refused to attend our convention and follow the proper process came in the back door and filed OTB petitions forcing a costly primary at taxpayers’ expense.
Therefore, I call upon all registered Conservatives in Legislative District 2 to come out on Thursday, Sept. 10 to vote for the one and only real Conservative candidate, Angie Minew, running in District 2. Ms. Minew went through the proper process and was unanimously voted on at the convention and she is the only candidate endorsed by the Conservative Party. Do not allow other individuals who avoided the proper process to sneak in the back door and steal our endorsement.

Chairman, Saugerties Conservative Party
I am writing this letter in support of Angie Minew. When I first met Angie, I was drawn to how caring and helpful she was to the children she cares for. My daughter started at her daycare a little over a year ago and I am glad she did. Angie not only provides for her family, but is continuously lending a helping hand to the community. I had the honor of watching Angie donate a picture from their “starving artist show” by her daycare children, but also donating a check of $260 to help the food pantry. Angie believes in changing whatever it may be for the better and won’t let anyone get in her way. Ulster County legislator District 2 comes with a lot of responsibly of which I have no doubt in my mind that Angie has what it takes. I am proud to support Angie and know you will too! Come out and support Angie, the only candidate to show in the interviews, caucuses, and get the nod!

This letter is written in order to show support for Angie Minew, one of the candidates for Ulster County Legislator, District 2. I first met Angie about seven years ago while searching for a daycare provider for my then almost nine-year-old daughter. As a single mother, I needed to ensure that my daughter was going to be in a safe environment with a responsible, reliable daycare provider. During our first meeting I immediately knew she was the right choice for us, and that my daughter would be well cared for. What I actually found was a warm loving woman that opened her home, giving her heart, mind and soul to providing care not only for my daughter but for many children of our community as well. My daughter, now almost 17 years old, continues to look up to Angie as one of her role models, as do I. Angie is a woman that always gives 100 percent of herself in everything that she does and continues to amaze me. Angie maintains a can-do attitude, is strong-willed, caring, maintains her beliefs, values, and is also trustworthy, which can be difficult to find these days. Since I have known Angie I have watched her overcome and tackle multiple challenges head on, while still managing her daycare business; however, she never fails to spend quality time with her own family. I admire her no-nonsense, hands-on approach to everything thrown her way, as well as her passion, honesty and outspokenness. For those of you that do not know her, all I can say is put your faith in Angie, she is dedicated, believes in our community and wants nothing but the absolute best future not only for her family, but for all families. I personally believe Angie is the right choice for this legislative seat and trust that she can and will make a difference.

I write this letter today to express my gratitude for those of you who support me throughout this campaign trail. This road is full of ups and downs but through it all and with your help I continue to move forward.
There are many out there that still do not know who Angie Minew is. I am a mom, wife, small-business owner, member of the Saugerties School Board, Ulster Boces School Board, as well as a former Girl Scout troop leader, former member of Saugerties Community Woman’s Softball Team, AYSO coach for over 5 years, currently Saugerties Little League coach/team manager and current coach for flag football. I teach my children to value this community by volunteering our time, raising money for the food pantry or animal shelter, and participating in the Saugerties Public Library programs to name a few things.
Why do I want to run for Ulster County Legislator for district 2? I believe in advocating strongly for all of our rights and to educated people in order to have informed voters. Serving on two school boards I have never voted where I have not been fully informed and prepared to do so prior to the vote. I believe that the outcome is all about what you put in. I am a firm supporter in less government control over our daily life with a bipartisan approach in defending the US Constitution. Above all I run for my children and yours. To ensure that they have a place they want to call home, that they are provided opportunities, that they are safe, protected, and career/college ready.
I believe we have lost authenticity in representation, transparency, we have developed a spending issue causing high taxes, lost the fundamental checks and balances system, and the art of doing what’s right even if it’s against the popular vote. I plan to change all of that. In order to change that, that is where you, the residents of Saugerties district 2 come in. On Sept. 10, come out and select me, Angie Minew. I am the people’s candidate for the Republican, Conservative, and Independence lines. My name will be there listed on all three lines as I am the candidate selected by each party. You can check out my Facebook or my website, minewcandoit.jimdo.com or I am sure if you haven’t seen me yet you will going door-to-door. I am listening to understand Saugerties not just respond.
Thanks again for your continued support Saugerties.
Angie Minew
