We respect and like Eldridge and note that he’s come a long way as a candidate since we first met him in 2013. He’s obviously intelligent and committed and brings good ideas to the table. We hope he sticks around, grows roots here and continues his good work supporting local small business with Hudson River Ventures. In a previous editorial, we explored the possibility of this area becoming a statewide center for progressive thought and politics; Eldridge has the opportunity before him to take a leading role in this.
But for now, with the GOP a dead-cinch lock to hold the House and poised to retake the Senate, it seems obvious to us that Republican representation in Congress will get the 19th, our county and our city more bang for our buck and help us recapture more of the tax money we send to Washington than we would if we were represented by a freshman in the minority.
Programming note: We didn’t want to let this week pass without acknowledging that it’s the 10th anniversary of this newspaper being published on its own, on a weekly basis. We’re going to do some special stories and retrospectives later in November once we wrap up the elections, but we’d like to thank everyone who has read the paper for contributing to its ongoing success. We had a great year growing our circulation in both print and online and we’re grateful for the community’s support.
Meh…not convinced.
I am not convinced either. Vote the guy out.
He is pro fracking. Here is a letter where he says so himself.
