Skating season begins at Kiwanis Ice Arena

Public skating at Kiwanis Ice Arena begins Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 16 and 17 with sessions from 2:30-4 p.m. and 4:30-6 p.m. Daily weekday public skating returns on Monday, Aug. 18 from noon to 4:30 p.m. There will be no public skating Monday, Aug. 25 through Friday, Aug. 29 to accommodate the Saugerties Skating School figure skating camp. Admission costs $6 for adults, $4 for students and free for children age five or under. Skate rental costs $3.

Freestyle figure skating sessions are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 5-6:30 p.m. and for the first few weeks on Sunday from noon–2 p.m. Cost for freestyle sessions is $10. There will be sticks and pucks sessions for beginning hockey on Tuesday and Thursday from 5–6:30 p.m. and Saturday from 6:30–8 p.m. For the more advanced player, there are drop-in hockey sessions on Monday and Friday from 7–8:30 p.m. Cost is $8 for adults and $6 for students.
