Here’s a roundup of the various pronouncements from City Hall on the efforts to get the white stuff properly wrangled.
- The snow emergency is no longer in effect; the city thanks residents for their cooperation.
- Mayor Gallo and Fire Chief Brown jointly request that city residents help dig out buried fire hydrants.
- Earlier this afternoon, the city announced the DPW would be removing snow Saturday, Feb. 8 from Levan Street, Brewster Street, Staples Street, W. O’Reilly Street and possibly Jansen Avenue from E. O’Reilly to Prince streets, as well as the city lot behind Monkey Joe’s; any cars on those streets or that lot would have been needed to have been removed by 6 a.m. Shortly after, those removals were cancelled.

This morning I walked out my front door and saw tow-away signs for snow removal that had not been there the night before. Luckily I missed getting towed. Since I don’t have a driveway, on the day it snowed I put my car in the municipal parking lot as we are advised to do, but I hear that a few hours after I retrieved mine, many other cars were towed from that same lot. So, are we supposed to put them in the municipal parking lot or not?
