A haunting in West Camp

ghost squareParanormal pros, psychics and a witch check it out

Tracy later contacted the Poughkeepsie-based Dutchess Paranormal Investigators. One of them was a psychic. She said she didn’t sense anything harmful in the house, but did detect that there was a young boy and two men outside working the fields.

Tracy said she thinks the two farmers might be two sons of Emerick who were willed the land when John died.

Shortly after the investigation by Dutchess Paranormal, Tyler discovered an old family graveyard by the railroad tracks near the Hudson on what would have been Emerick property. The bodies of some local residents are buried there, including a five-year-old boy. Many of the stones have been uprooted by trees and are hard to read. Such a plot isn’t an uncommon sight in the Hudson Valley, but the timing of the discovery and the age of the boy did nothing to dispel the spooky feeling hanging over the property.

Continuing to look for answers, Tracy called into investigators from Scientific Paranormal in Connecticut. They too found what they claimed to be paranormal activity, Tracy said. “But they were stumped on what to do.”

During this time, a Witches’ Ball (an object used to keep evil away), which was hanging in a window began to swing wildly, and Tyler heard a car crash late at night, although there was no crash, Tracy said.

Now firmly believing that something ghostly was going on, Tracy, who is friends with a woman claiming to be a witch, asked her what to do. She said that salt water should be sprinkled about the house. The witch also blessed Tyler, since he seemed to be the nexus for the haunting. “We wanted him to be empowered,” Tracy said.

Some of the investigators also reported seeing or sensing a soldier on the property. “They said they would see him out of the corner of their eye, but when they looked he would be gone,” Tracy said.

One night Tyler had a friend stay over, and he reported seeing a woman dancing at the bottom of steps that lead the upstairs bedrooms, Tracy added.

However, just as suddenly as the ghosts appeared, they disappeared. Tracy said there has been no activity since late this summer.

“Tyler has been okay, he’s said that he hasn’t seen anything in a while,” Tracy said. “Bruce has said that he would like to see the ghosts but so far he hasn’t.”

This isn’t the first time the family has seen strange things around the house. A few years ago Tyler saw his cat acting distressed in the yard and snapped some photos which showed dozens of glowing orbs and some sort of ghostly animal alongside the cat, none of which was visible to the eye. They since lost the photos in a hard drive crash.

Tracy had a run-in of her own earlier. After they first got married, Tracy (Reynolds) and Bruce, who met at the Saugerties High School senior prom and graduated in 1987, lived in a home on Old Kings Highway. “My baby [oldest son Josh] was sleeping in an upstairs bedroom and I was downstairs when I saw an old gentleman standing at the top of the stairs. He turned and walked into Josh’s bedroom. I ran upstairs but he wasn’t there.”

“I told my mom that I saw someone in the house, and she told me that she, too, had seen someone as well,” Tracy said.

Describing herself as the “intuitive of the group,” Willow Pressler of Dutchess Paranormal said that she and a fellow investigator went to the Snyder home last year after they were called about Tracy’s son seeing a “male figure in the home.”

The two “made the first visit to the family to interview and see if we could help,” Pressler explained.

They talked to the family and walked around the house, and the property. “While I was there I did feel that there was a spirit of a young boy on the property,” Pressler said, “but not in the home.”

“I also felt that there was a ‘soldier’ in the home, maybe Civil War or Revolutionary,” Pressler added.

“Unfortunately, when the team went back to investigate we did not capture any evidence to validate any of the claims,” Pressler said. “This does not mean that there is nothing there, we just didn’t get any evidence.”

“There is not much to tell,” Pressler concluded.

The ghosts of Emerick Road are gone- for now.

Tracy said while she was frightened for her son, she believes they never meant the family any harm.

The reason why that was included in the story is because when asked when this occurred I said it was the night Bin Laden was killed. I was driving home at 12:30 AM after bringing my son to his friends and heard on the radio about Bin Laden.

if it is harmless, then just talk to them like talking to a real live person. tell them not to harm anybody.

for malevolent ghost, my advice is, have a radio let it played some rock n roll, heavy metal, after a few days theyll leave. they hate that kind of music. put the radio on some wet areas of the house especially on the bathroom,

There are many many strange things that happen in our area of Saugerties for a very long time.
    My parents told me a few like;
Years ago before Malden Turn pike even had lights people walking that road back to Malden from Katsbaan would hear a horse galloping behind and beside them but no one was there, they would run frantically home scared out of their minds!
For me I have seen and heard things more then once in my life.
Let’s put it to you this way, if someone gave me a beautiful home in West Saugerties Area, they can keep it!

My Mom lives in Saugerties and has also had unusual events occur at her home. Among other things, she has seen a man dressed in 18th century garb walking in her yard and then disappearing, and there have been strange noises in the house as well.
My thought is that Saugerties is located on a particular crossing of the ley lines,
the magnetics of which incline towards a thinning of the veils between dimensions which allows for inhabitants of those planes to more easily interact with us who dwell in this plane.
Certain people have a particular kind of energy that could facilitate this process, and I think the Snyder boy is an example of such.

Also, it should be noted that in many cases, Orbs have been connected with ET activity, it’s possible that the black form he witnessed was not of human origin but some kind of Alien.
The Aliens who have contact with people have been known to cloak themselves in this manner, and it’s possible that Tyler is a contactee, even tho’ he may have no conscious recollection of the events.
I have been studying the Alien contact phenomena for over two decades, and have attended several conferences devoted to this subject.
I also have a close friend who is a Psychologist who specializes in counseling Individuals who have been traumatized by their contact experiences.
This is not the stuff of Science fiction but is a very real occurence, in spite of the fact it lacks mainstream coverage.

The sightings of the black figure and presence of orbs has been documented many times by different people,
who have later uncovered memories of being contacted.

If Tyler or Tracy have any questions about this,
I’d be happy to share what I know if it could help.

Having descended (in part) from those old Palatine Deutsch, from a family that was called variously, Emrich, Emmerich, Empie— who moved on to the Schoharie and Mohawk Valleys- it sure wasn’t a German ghost! Far too pragmatic and disdainful of “mystery.” On the other hand they can hold a grudge—
