The artist Hargash signs a work.

Many locals were involved, says the artist. “I used over 70 models, many of whom are from the Kingston area. They are very theatrical pieces creating a story and dialogue with expression and gesture. I have found Kingston to be a great place to live as an artist. With the beautiful Hudson Valley as a backdrop it really has a nice mix of a ‘happening’ scene, as well as a quiet country escape.”

Hagarsh said the space for the event was graciously arranged by Guy Kempe from RUPCO.

Get to SHELTER

Also of note in the region, on Sunday, June 2 at the Bard College Fisher Center, Natalie Merchant headlines SHELTER, a benefit for victims of domestic violence in the Hudson Valley. Simi Stone is also playing (among others) but special shout out to Simi ’cuz she rocks! Go to fishercenter.bard.edu for more details and support a great cause. I know it is called SHELTER and if you are like me, you briefly thought someone might be covering Ray Cappo’s greatest hits, but it is a great event anyway.

I’d like to wrap up this week with lyrics from Killswitch Engage vocalist Jesse Leach. His band is super heavy but Leach sings positive words, a yelling to motivate approach that defies the “evil” Heavy Metal stereotype. On their latest album Disarm the Descent in a song called “Time Will Not Remain, Jesse screams: “None of us should be thought of as anything less than a potential to change the world.” What a great message! Can’t we all just get along?
