Owners Paul Maloney and Jenny Vis cater to the discerning palate with awe-inspiring cocktails. The renovations include expanded bar stations and a beautifully rounded bar, helping the flow of customer service.
“The bar ended at right angles to the wall. We rounded it and moved a bar station down,” says Paul. “The bartenders aren’t jammed at one end. We can serve people better and pay more attention to guests. It’s going great. We really feel the benefit of it.”
“It’s something we should’ve done right from the beginning. We just didn’t know we needed to,” confides Jenny. “We needed two proper stations. Two legs. We love it. It’s gorgeous. Now it kinda feels more like one big room than two separate rooms. The space is much more integrated now as far as the energy.”
With the great renovations plus the drink menu shifting in May to a warm-weather emphasis on more citrus drinks and rum-based drinks, everyone needs to get themselves over to the Stockade! The bar is also continuing their jazz series the last Thursday of every month. Cheers.
Let’s end this week by saying rest in peace, Jason Molina. I stared out talking about the Great Depression and am gonna end on the topic of depression in general. Molina fronted the indie bands Songs: Ohia and Magnolia Electric Co. He was very underrated and wrote songs to stop you in your tracks; bluesy odes to pure longing. Molina died a few weeks back at age 39 of alcohol-related organ failure. He wasn’t a local but his talent was huge. Please check out his music and support the visionaries in your own lives.
