Swiss Family summer jaunt

There is a minimum height requirement of 48 inches and a maximum weight limit of 265 pounds, but those of good health who lead an active lifestyle shouldn’t have any problem completing any of the courses. Harnesses must remain attached throughout to the safety lines between each pair of platforms. The activities are not recommended for pregnant women (do we even need to say that?), and visitors are forewarned that if they’re not used to heights, the effect of being on the courses may be “initially unsettling.”

Tickets cost $51 for those age 12 and older, $42 for ages 10 to 11 and $33 for ages 7 to 9. Group rates for 15 or more are available. Tickets are valid for three hours, but there is no charge for family members who come to watch. Ticket sales end at 3 p.m. each day, and harness and gloves are included with admission. Those participating are advised to wear well-fitting clothing that doesn’t hang loose and won’t get tangled in cables and rope. Sneakers or hiking shoes are recommended, and flip-flops or sandals are not allowed.

A restaurant on-site serves casual dining in the lodge from 10 a.m. to closing time, and drinks are available any time through vending machines. For additional fun, a private bass pond is available, stocked with hefty fish for catch-and-release fishing, and hiking on the grounds is allowed for two or more with cell phone coverage. The summer season runs on a daily basis through September 3, open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., weather permitting. There will be a Park delay for thunderstorms and high winds, so a call ahead before traveling any distance is recommended.
