Saugerties Sizzler held on July 4. This run will be an addition to the Independence Day celebration in Saugerties with an advertised distance of 1.776 km. Fire siren sounds at 11 a.m. as the traditional signal to start the parade. Runners will start running along the secured parade route ahead of the parade itself. Registration deadline is June 26. On Saturday, July 7, the New York Philharmonic – conducted by Bramwell Tovey and featuring Canadian soprano Tracy Dahl – will perform at the Pavillion Stage at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. The first part of the program emphasizes 20th-century American repertoire, as Dahl performs works by Bernstein (“Three Dances” episode from On the Town and “Glitter and Be Gay” from Candide) and Gershwin (Promenade and a selection of popular songs arranged by Maestro Tovey). After intermission, the Philharmonic returns with works by Tchaikovsky: selections from Act IV of Swan Lake and the 1812 Overture. The performance will conclude with a fireworks display celebrating Independence Day weekend. Picnic-style meals in soft coolers are welcome at these orchestral performances (no bottles, cans or alcohol). Parking opens at 5 p.m., the doors open at 6:30 and the show begins at 8. Tickets range from $26.50 for Lawn seating to $110. The Bethel Woods Center for the Arts is located at 200 Hurd Road in Bethel, on the site of the 1969 Woodstock concert.
