“At one point the Hudson Valley was covered in ice,” notes Marra. “There’s obvious proof that the climate of this earth does very violent things. There’s more data to support that the earth may be cooling rather than warming, and that the sun has been very active with sun spots and solar flares. There’s scientific data supporting that the sun is quieting down, and that there are fewer sun spots. The sun goes through 11-year cycles, and the sun is getting quiet with fewer sunspots than it has before. Last time this happened the earth was the coldest it has been in many years. There was a little Ice Age in the late 1800s. The earth has been warming since the mid-1900s.” He attributes the unseasonable winter warmth to a combination of unusual weather patterns holding the frigid Arctic air inCanadaandSiberia.
John Lavin of Kingston is a fan of the page. “I visit the page due to the extreme accuracy of the forecasts,” says Lavin. “They are always right on. Most weather stations only coverNew York City, and sort of skip over the Hudson Valley. It’s nice to hear a forecast about where I actually live.”
Karen Perkins Jones of Poughkeepsie is a devout fan as well, for good reasons. “I started following this page by accident during the hurricane of last year,” Jones says. “Since we typically do not have them, and I have two children in wheelchairs, I followed every single accurate word on what to expect and how to prepare for an unusual weather experience. It is because of this page that I was able to prepare and care for my children above and beyond what I typically would have done … I will always appreciate the passion and knowledge that is freely given.”

The guy can forecast with the best of them. Sam Champion has nothing on him!
Excellent artice…
I wonder who was doing this. Nice to know, great service to the community.
Alex is the best. Can’t count on the syndicated “local” radio stations for a forecast on the weekend, but you can always count on Alex.
I’ve been relying on him! He’s been pretty accurate.
I think he is very knowledgeable but it goes beyond that. When you really love something, you do it very well. He does it very well. His Facebook page has helped me and countless others to know what roads are closed flooded and also who needs help in the Hudson Valley so that those of us who like to be of service can help. It’s like a neighborhood and everyone gets involved to add to his knowledge and create this wonderful space where all work for the greater good of weather. Rock on Marra!!!
Very accurate perdictions!I only go by his weather forcasts!
Yeah but his fans are the best! : )
Always good for a laugh too 🙂
Alex is the best. Great article and nice to see the face with the name! Love the story behind the creator of the page. He cares about what he does, the people that he delivers the info to, and me and my family appreciate it….. especially on the road. Thanks so much, HVWX1 and Kingston Times… great job.
I really enjoy HVW not only for the accurate forecast but you can really tell Alex loves making sure his fellow Hudson Valley citizens know what’s coming their way! Great Job!!!
Alex has been my personal weatherman for the past 13 years! So happy to see him following his dream and sharing his gift. Great job!!!
i think he should be paid for what he does because i cannot get this kind of info on fox 5 or any other channel
My father use to call him “The Weatherman” when we were in school. I don’t think my mom knew his real name for years. It’s so great that he has found a way to share his passion! Rock on Marra!
