Buchalski’s confidence continues to grow in the band’s ability to take home the gold as the band continues to climb in rank. “We are doing really well. We are learning as we go here. This was our sixth performance there, and we really arrived on the scene last year. … We really learned what the judges were looking for what the music and formations were that they were looking for.”
This year’s show was ironically entitled “Into the Storm,” selected before there was any inkling of hurricanes or autumnal snow. “We met with the directors and listened to the music, and the music sounded like that.”
The band will be in concert locally on Thursday, Nov. 17, playing their “After the Storm” medley. The show will be at 7 p.m. at the Kingston High School Auditorium, 403 Broadway. The school’s Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Wind Symphony, Jazz Band, Woodwind Choir, Chamber Orchestra, along with the marching band, will perform in a kick-off fundraising concert for new marching uniforms. There will also be a bake sale and bandwear sale. Tickets are $5 at the door; call (845) 336-8205 for more information.
