Condition Redcoat: This year’s Burning adds some new wrinkles

Sunday, Tozzi explained, all the troops will be moving Uptown and do the “traditional uptown battle that we have been doing for years.”

An added plus this year — the Old Dutch Church will host a period Dutch religious service with the Rev. Kenneth Walsh dressed as an 18th-century dominie, followed by refreshments. As the British arrive, the church bells will ring and the militia will stage the fleeing of the citizens. After that, the battle will take place around 1 p.m.

People are encouraged to come into the encampment at Rotary Park and interact. Sailors will be on the beach in period wooden boats and people are welcome to go down and see the boats and talk to the sailors. For more information, visit firstulster.org.
