And as long as you’re seeing the Grand Canyon (along with the 15 or 20,000 other people who are visiting it that day), you might want to check out another place that’s on the list. It’s only 250 miles away, and could be a grand canyon for your money: Las Vegas.
One place on the list I’d really like to see is the Great Wall in China. I’ve seen some pretty good walls in my time, but this is a great wall.
On the other hand, I don’t know about this one: the boardwalk at Atlantic City, NJ, which is billed as the “world’s longest boardwalk.” With mortality staring you in the face, would you really want to go see a boardwalk? True, Atlantic City is a much cheaper and shorter trip than China, but this is really a case of you-get-what-you-pay-for.
Then there’s Powell’s City of Books in Portland, Oregon, which is the “largest new and used bookstore in the world” (if it hasn’t gone out of business by the time you read this). Who needs a bookstore when I can have all the books I want right in the palm of my hand with a Kindle? I don’t have a Kindle, but getting one would be a whole lot cheaper than flying to Portland to see those ancient artifacts called books.
However, I can certainly understand if you might want to see Monument Valley, Utah, with its “glorious and majestic buttes.” If you’re the kind of person who likes to look at glorious and majestic buttes, you really can’t miss this trip.
Very funny stuff. Thank you for making me laugh!
