After serving in the US Submarine service as a periscope photographer and a career as a computer engineer, Gus sailed off on his sailboat to see the world. So it’s no surprise that his designs are firmly rooted in engineering and science with a flair for adventure. He has now settled down in Saugerties, and designs and builds award-winning custom furniture that is unique and visually appealing. He is moving into wooden sculptures that highlight the natural grains of exotic woods.

Tad Richards has been intrigued for some years now with the possibilities of the computer as a tool for drawing and painting. He has developed the technique of 21st Century Pointillism, turning the inefficiencies of Microsoft Paint into unexpected virtues. Some of his black and white computer drawings have been collected into two books, “Film Noir” and “Film Noir 2.” Recently, he has been exploring the possibilities of creating art on the iPad.

Carol Zaloom makes hand-colored linocuts whose imagery is inspired by Paleolithic cave paintings, Japanese woodblock prints, the pre-Raphaelites, and the forests, mountains, flora and fauna of the Hudson Valley. She lives in a house built in 1852 by an Irish quarry worker, which also housed a WPA muralist in the 1930s.
