Yvette Lewis

463 Fishcreek Road

Saugerties, NY 12477

Studio #37

Patterns as language and as surface texture are part of the paintings of Yvette Lewis. Sensual images based on nature; rocks, leaves, air and earth float across the canvass in soft ambiguous space. The images of both the paintings and the etchings evoke the power and the receptive of the feminine. Yvette’s new studio is across the field from her house, private, personal, a place to let her imagination flow.

“I am working on a series of paintings describing a poetic fiction, emanating from an abstract percept and alluding to recognizable forms such as musical instruments, the female body and portraiture. The result is an anecdotal fiction, more or less realistic, and always based on a rigorous abstract art.”

Ze’ev Willy Neumann

Double Take Gallery

42 Livingston Street

Saugerties, NY 12477

Studio #6

Since leaving Brooklyn three years ago Neumann’s creative life has been flourishing.   An active and imaginative woodworker turned sculptor, he admits, “it is hard to catch-up with myself.”  Every few months’ new projects make their appearance as installations or shows at his Double Take Gallery.  His current project on view at the gallery, “Cubes & Turnings”, is the culmination of a year’s work exploring a variety of exotic wood.  The size of the pieces makes them ideal for traditional & contemporary indoor spaces.
